Act + Acre is the world's first cold pressed hair wellness brand that focuses on your scalp. Founders Helen & Colm Mackin created & patented the cold pressed technique & combined it with plant-based formulas to pioneer a new category of scalp care. Act + Acre engaged us to optimize their store with a focus on improving their code base, conversion rate & optimizing their site for search. Here’s a breakdown of some of the tactics that we deployed…
The brand’s website had gone through a number of iterations on a Shopify 1.0 theme. Their code base had become bloated after years of app integrations & functionality was often breaking when changes were made to themes. We refactored the code base to ensure the site was functional & to improve performance as an interim solution as we redesigned a new website which we are due to launch on a Shopify 2.0 theme in early 2025.
We analyzed heatmap & scroll depth data to understand how user’s were behaving on the PDP’s. We hypothesized that the amount of text on the page was hindering how many users were adding a product to their cart due to scroll depth required to reach the button. Shopper’s need to quickly understand a brand’s value proposition & why it is superior to other options they’re considering. We redesigned the page to have less copy visible to the user (unless they clicked an accordion) & added the product’s USPs below the add to cart button to ensure they were displayed prominently.
Historically, the brand’s PDPs had underperformed in the SERPs as they’d failed to leverage the strength of their backlink profile due to the variant URL being linked from the home page & a lack of internal links being implemented throughout the site (funnelling that authority to their PDPs). We developed an internal linking strategy & focused on adding contextual links from their most authoritative pages to their highest margin products & doubled down on building additional backlinks to these pages through the brand’s PR partners.
